 The picture in the top left corner shows how I believe in Jesus Christ and the Lord above. The picture in the top right corner shows how I am proud of my country (Samoa). In the bottom left is a picture that shows a rugby ball in a stadium full of people which means how I love to play rugby and the last photo in the bottom right shows letters spelling family. It means and shows how I love my family.

Rust

Walt: Synthesize information from multiple resources.

What 3 ingredients are needed for rust to occur.

Write a brief paragraph explaining the rusting process (why rusting occurs)

When oxygen from the air mixes with water and is placed on an iron surface. Slowly the iron reacts with the oxygen mixed with water therefore creating iron oxide. When Iron oxide mixes with the water it creates hydrated Iron oxide also known as (Rust). Fact: When you add table salt/sodium chloride to this process the reaction will move a lot faster. You don’t have to add salt it will just help if you wanted to speed up your process.

How could you prevent something from rusting?

If you wanted to protect iron from getting rusted some things you could use is oil, Zinc/Zn or paint. Oil can help because when coated over iron it stops oxygen from getting in. Another way is by galvanising. This means to coat Zinc over iron and only the zinc will be affected but you can easily wash it of. You could also use a coating of paint to stop water from getting into cracks to stop or to slow down the rusting process.

Write 3 sentences explaining something new you’ve learned from this reading.

One thing I learnt during my reading was the process of how rusting works. Another thing I learnt was the three ingredients used to make rust, they are air, oxygen and iron. Greater amounts of rust can be found in different environments. e.g There is a greater amount of rust near the sea.

Writing Test T4

It was raining that day when Jeremy, Kane and Freddie went hiking at Whitmore's Rainforest. They always went hiking and liked to see new places. Travelling was apart of them. It was the first time any of them had been to Whitmore's Rainforest, so they were really excited to explore this new and exotic place. As they hiked higher and higher Jeremy ask “can we take a break, we’ve been walking for hours” even though they started about half an hour ago. “Sure” said Kane as he sat down and starting sipping his water.

Freddie needed to go to the toilet, so of he went. While he was peeing he heard rustling coming from a bush behind him so he went to check it out. A hairy hand popped out of the bush and grab his shirt. Before he knew it he was being drag away from his friends. Freddie screamed like a little girl so that his friends could hear him. It was too late, by the time his friends came they had only caught a glimpse of the hairy beast.

They searched everywhere for him but he was nowhere to be found. Until Jeremy yelled out to Kane “ I found something”  After Kane had seen it he knew straight away that it was Freddie’s. It was his blue and red Nike bag that he wore everyday, when they lifted the bag they saw a huge foot print in the ground. The next item they found was his socks and shoes. It was like Freddie was leaving a trail behind so that his friends could find him.

Suddenly, they heard Freddie screaming from the top of the mountain and as they quickly ran up they saw black smoke rising into the sky.They finally made it up the mountain and saw Freddie lying on the ground. He was in pain. While the hideous beast was distracted by the fire he created Kane and Jeremy took Freddie back down the mountain. They heard a loud roar that got closer and closer. Jeremy started getting scared but Kane told him “ Keep running we're nearly there, the rangers hut is just past these trees”.

Jeremy’s feet had other plans, he twisted his ankle and tripped making all of them fall down Kane yelled at him “you idiot we’re all going to die now”  Jeremy replied “at least we're all going to die together”. As the beast closed in on them they had finally recognised who it was it was Bigfoot, The snow beast people usually prefer to as the last living Yeti. Bigfoot got closer and was just about to ripped them all into pieces.

Bang!! Bang!! Bigfoot had fallen right in front of the three men and standing behind it was the ranger. He had just saved their lives. After that he called the ambulance, animal control, the police and anything else who could think of. Soon the rainforest was crawling with news reporters, policemen, scientist and firemen. There was no fire they just wanted to see a real life Bigfoot.

Finally the men were rushed to hospital where they were taken care of for two weeks, the Whitmore’s Rainforest was closed for further inspection, the ranger instantly became famous for taking down the almighty yeti and the yeti went with the scientist for biological research.

Simple, Compound and Complex Sentences

On a cold night Matt and Carrie had just finish from a hard days work.  Matt the owner of the farm was preparing a nice cup of coffee while Carrie (the daughter) went outside into the barn to check on the pigs as it was her last chore. When suddenly, she heard screaming coming from the mountain. She quickly ran back inside to tell her father Matt, that she had heard someone in trouble on the mountain.

So Carrie and her father Matt rushed to the mountain with a flashlight. When they got there Matt said ”There’s nothing here sweetheart” “but I heard something” Carrie replied. Carrie told her father to be quiet. She felt something slithering on her foot and she jump with fright. Her father had flashed the light to see it was only a tree vine.

She snatched the light and flashed it behind herself. A loud GASP came from her as she found an old tree that was grown into the shape of a man. When she turned back around her father had disappeared. Before she knew it she was being drag closer and closer to the tree. Luckily she still had the flashlight. She shined the light on the thing and caught a glimpse of what looked like a living vine.

Carrie had no weapon, no clue to where her father was and no idea of what to do, before she knew it she was being pulled inside the tree into an underground tunnel. Carrie thought to herself. She had realized where she was because she remembered it from a dream. The day after her mother disappeared. As they sat there in the dark the a very old woman lurked in the shadows. Carrie was frightened for a while until she saw a shiny silver necklace hanging around the woman's neck.

Carrie and her father quickly got up to introduce themselves but the woman had already known who they were.   Her father quickly realised who she was, Carrie had remembered her from her mother's funeral “Aunt Adeline” said Carrie as she rushed to hug her. “Why are you here” commented her father. “I have been guarding the tree of knowledge it is in our family’s honour to protect it”.

“Who was screaming” said Carrie. “It was me” replied Aunt Adeline. She had to get Carrie to come over to the tree so that she could start teaching her about her family’s past. The reason Aunt Adeline stayed here was because of Diana, Carrie's mother. When a guardian dies another is born. Rosie was the next in line.

Over the years Carrie grew and fought off time keepers, Speedsters, monsters and a lot more all to protect the Tree of Knowledge. Until her Aunt died she knew it was time to find her younger cousin Yvonne. It was her turn to train a younger family member, so that the family commitment would carry on for years.

Google Cardboards

While the year 8’s were at Tamaki College for tech, the year 7 students were having a lot of fun visiting places like India, Buckingham Palace, the Colosseum and much more.

Today some of the year 7 students used google cardboards for the first time. Google Cardboard is a virtual reality platform that was developed by google and was released in 2014. It was created by two very intelligent men whose names are David Coz and Damien Henry, they are google engineers from the Google Culture Institute in Paris.

It was incredible, we had even search a part of outer space we saw africa, the moon and millions of bright shining stars. We had even gone to the tallest building in the world that was in Dubai and we also went to Buckingham Palace and The Royal Mall which we learnt has 1,514 doors and 760 windows that have to we polished every week.

My favourite place was the deep blue sea where I saw the amazing bullshark who is said to be the most aggressive sea creature in the shark department even more aggressive than the great white, I also saw the giant whale shark it was so fun and did you know that the whale shark can grow up to 20 m in length - up to 20 tonnes.

It wasn’t the first time I had used this google product before, I use this incredible product when the year 7 & 8 extension group went to the GEGNZ which stands for (Google Education Groups In New Zealand). We went there to learn how other people use Google and if they use google apps for different purposes.

I had so much fun with the google cardboards and I hope I get to use it another time.

Term 4 Immersion Assembly

As I opened the door to see my classmates deciding where they were going to sit for the next 10 weeks, the second school bell rang and suddenly everybody rushed into the street for the mihimihi and karakia.

After that all the students from Point England gathered inside the hall to learn what our topic was for term 4. All the teachers dressed up and had to perform an act of some kind that was related to our topic. This term topic is PES Survivors, we are learning how to adapt to our surroundings so that we can survive on planet earth.

Team 1 are sang karaoke and are going to the zoo to learn how the animal life now adapt in the zoo. Team 2 are learning about dinosaurs and how they didn’t learn to adapt and if it was the reason for their extinction, and team 3 are creating different kinds of dinosaurs.

The year 5 and 6 which is team 4 are learning about the different kinds of habitats and last but not least team 5 are learning about adaptation and how some people from different countries learn to adapt to survive in different places and climates.

My favourite part was when the team 5 teachers had an chopstick competition. It was funny when the teachers were complaining about Asia’s win, they thought it was unfair because in their country they don’t use chopsticks, or as they say, wooden sticks. Another funny part was when miss Peato complained and said that if there were some island food then she would have one.

My second favourite was when miss King and the team 3 teachers or in other words the team 3 disco dino’s dressed in a lot of colourful clothing and had some weird names. Miss King’s dinosaur name was Bosserapter, and mr Moran was called the muscle-osaurus, there were a lot of funny names and really cool acts but I can’t decide which was the best because they were all amazing.

I think that this terms topic is really cool and interesting, I can’t wait to learn more about this fun topic. Hopefully everyone else likes it as well.
