Writing Test T4

It was raining that day when Jeremy, Kane and Freddie went hiking at Whitmore's Rainforest. They always went hiking and liked to see new places. Travelling was apart of them. It was the first time any of them had been to Whitmore's Rainforest, so they were really excited to explore this new and exotic place. As they hiked higher and higher Jeremy ask “can we take a break, we’ve been walking for hours” even though they started about half an hour ago. “Sure” said Kane as he sat down and starting sipping his water.

Freddie needed to go to the toilet, so of he went. While he was peeing he heard rustling coming from a bush behind him so he went to check it out. A hairy hand popped out of the bush and grab his shirt. Before he knew it he was being drag away from his friends. Freddie screamed like a little girl so that his friends could hear him. It was too late, by the time his friends came they had only caught a glimpse of the hairy beast.

They searched everywhere for him but he was nowhere to be found. Until Jeremy yelled out to Kane “ I found something”  After Kane had seen it he knew straight away that it was Freddie’s. It was his blue and red Nike bag that he wore everyday, when they lifted the bag they saw a huge foot print in the ground. The next item they found was his socks and shoes. It was like Freddie was leaving a trail behind so that his friends could find him.

Suddenly, they heard Freddie screaming from the top of the mountain and as they quickly ran up they saw black smoke rising into the sky. They finally made it up the mountain and saw Freddie lying on the ground. He was in pain. While the hideous beast was distracted by the fire he created Kane and Jeremy took Freddie back down the mountain. They heard a loud roar that got closer and closer. Jeremy started getting scared but Kane told him “ Keep running we're nearly there, the rangers hut is just past these trees”.

Jeremy’s feet had other plans, he twisted his ankle and tripped making all of them fall down Kane yelled at him “you idiot we’re all going to die now”  Jeremy replied “at least we're all going to die together”. As the beast closed in on them they had finally recognised who it was it was Bigfoot, The snow beast people usually prefer to as the last living Yeti. Bigfoot got closer and was just about to ripped them all into pieces.

Bang!! Bang!! Bigfoot had fallen right in front of the three men and standing behind it was the ranger. He had just saved their lives. After that he called the ambulance, animal control, the police and anything else who could think of. Soon the rainforest was crawling with news reporters, policemen, scientist and firemen. There was no fire they just wanted to see a real life Bigfoot.

Finally the men were rushed to hospital where they were taken care of for two weeks, the Whitmore’s Rainforest was closed for further inspection, the ranger instantly became famous for taking down the almighty yeti and the yeti went with the scientist for biological research.

Rio Olympics 2016 Narrative

This year's 2016 Olympic Games are being held in Rio De janeiro and we are coming up to our 11th event which is Women's Archery. Representing France, Sophie Argue and from Greece,  Arianna Galatas. We also have the last olympics women's archery winner all the way from Korea, Georgia Kyeon.

Last time she was here she had blinded her right eye. This had happened when she released an arrow near her eyeball, causing the arrow to cut her eye. The unfortunate setback gave her opponents an enormous advantage, which made her feel further away from the gold medal.

Luckily after the arrow had cut her eye it had hit the bullseye making her win first place. But this year like all the other contestants she has been training for four years and has qualified to play in the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Scores had been getting higher and higher, 63, 67, 79 and 85. Next up, was Sophie Argue from France who was coming in first with a score of 94 points. Not soon after Korea prepared to go after Arianna Galatas from Greece.

Surprisingly Arianna had scored 87 points, putting her in second place but as the audience's silence filled the stadium they waited for Georgia.  As the words “ Georgia Kyeon please take your mark on the platform” flew through the stadium. It was time for her to take her one eyed shot. . .

Just as she was going to shoot she hesitated. She remembered about last years incident and accidentally discharged the bullet like arrow.  As it sliced through the air the crowd slowly stood up and the disappointment in Georgia’s face was heartbreaking.

Then a loud thump had echoed all the way into Georgia's ears. She looked up while the crowd had cheered for her, then she scanned for the leader board and saw that she had scored 93 points putting her in second place. Georgia cried with tears of joy knowing that she had tried her best.

At the end Georgia held her medal high and was proud to represent her country even while coming in second place.
This story is not true it is a narrative which has been created by my imagination.

The Transformation

Ring! Ring! Rang the bell. As Mr Famine put his glasses on a stack of two old books he said “don’t forget to write your stories about a mythical creature in the weekend”. “You all need to practice” he said as all his year nine students ran out of his class. Unfortunately before they could escape he called out four names. “Xavier! Abigail! Grace! and Leo!” Xavier was a tall male who all the girls admired when he flipped his long brown hair. Abigail was a smart, geeky looking girl who always won first place academically. Grace was crazy with crazy hair, and Leo was the naughtiest boy in the school.

“Late again“ said Mr Famine. “All three of you are starting to fail this class, except for you Abigail!” Mr Famine carried on speaking, “I want you three to work with Abigail in the weekends or else you will fail my class”. As they walked home they argued for a long time about what they were going to write about because if they didn’t finish this paper they would all be expelled, except for Abigail. Finally they all agreed to go to Abigail’s house to study at five thirty.

When that time came, nobody showed up and almost two hours had passed. Abigail felt sad when no one came, until she received a text saying ‘YOU HAVE TO COME TO THE CEMETERY SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED TO GRACE…’ Abigail had to run through an alleyway to find the cemetery at the end of the road. As she walked closer she saw a glowing light and walked guardedly as she went closer. Next to the glowing light stood Leo and Xavier. "What's happening to her?" said Abigail, as gusts of winds started to circle around them. "We don't know. Her parents didn't want her to come, but she snuck out and came with us. We tried to come to your house a faster way but we got lost coming here" Leo explained loudly!

Gracie was lying on the floor next to a gravestone, but not long after, she started to float up in the air. As Abigail read the name on the stone the person who had died must have been related to Grace because they both had the same last name ‘Bite De Sang’, which Abigail knew was French for Blood Bite.

The next thing the three teens saw was a flash of light. Grace fell to the ground but she was ok. The four teenagers quickly ran home in the dark. Before they reached Abigail’s house, a light bulb idea entered Leo’s head. “Hey guys!” he shouted. “I have a great idea for our mythical writing paper!”.

Show not Tell

As I entered the room with giant like bath tubs the little hand was on the one and the big one was on twelve. In my board shorts, t-shirt and red and blue sandals I felt a sudden rush of hot air blown into my face with the scent of chlorine. Screams of laughter reached my ears while splashes of water caught my eye.

My heart started pounding so I leaped in the air to end up in the freezing water. I could no longer bare the cold water, so I reach out and grabbed the metallic poles linked together, step by step I made it out safely. The next pool I had chosen wasn't cold nor hot it was just right, this time I did not jump, I slowly walked in and sat on the third 18 to 38 degree step.

Later the word boredom like unattached cobwebs flew, in my head so I tried a swimming technique where my head stuck out of the water and my torso did not rotate. I gave it my best  but lower I sank. I’ll try it next time cause the little hand was on two and the big one was on twelve and it was time to get change.

Yr 8 Leader Ship Camp

Fun activities, delicious food and spending time with friends, is what the year eight students of Point England did on the last week of term one. They went to Marsden Bay for memorable 3 days of Leader Ship camp.

After a very mundane bus trip from Point England School to Marsden Bay we had finally reach our destination. While we unloaded the buses the owner of the camp site and his wife came and introduced themselves to everyone their names are Michael and Gina. The next part of our arrival was to tour the camp site so that we knew where everything was.

Until it started raining, everyone started sprinting because we had forgotten to take our bags inside and by the time we got there almost everything was wet. Then we saw our got into our cabins and put all our gear inside. Next we played our first game which was something like guiding a blind snake, there was a leader in front who guided everyone who had a blindfold on. That wasn't really my favourite game because my team lost.

We had a lot of activities but I have to say my favourite was the water slide because it was really fun and all of my friends had fun as well. To make our selves go faster on the water slide we had to use a bar of soap my team used about three bars of soap and nearly two bottles of shampoo. Some of us had made a human chain which made us go even faster.

My second favourite would have been going on the kayaks, the only stink thing was that it was really cold. We went under bridges and had a backwards race where the winner would get an extra serving of dessert, I won so I got the extra dessert. After that my friends Promise, Taunese and I had tipped Miss Berry's kayak over and next thing she new was that she was cold, wet and swimming in the pond.

The thing I can't stop thinking about is all the FOOD we had cereal, toast and Milo for breakfast, cookies, fruit and a drink of water for lunch and for dinner we had delicious butter chicken with rice. My favourite would have to be the lasagne it was nice and cheesy with yummy hot mince and pasta. For dessert we had Ice cream with wafers and peaches and chocolate mouse.

Camp was really fun it was probably the best camp I've been to and I wish I could go again.

What Easter means to Me

Screenshot 2016-03-24 at 11.51.55 AM.pngEaster, what does it mean to me?  For me it means to celebrate with family and to have fun so that we can catch up on the things that have happened over time. Sometime on Saturday my  cousins and I will have an easter egg hunt just before midnight and whoever finds the most chocolate eggs would get a big prize that my aunties would buy the next day.

Before my great grandma past away, she would always make us go to church every year to celebrate and remember Jesus Christ and how he resurrected from death and if anyone complained she would use her walking cane to hit them across the head, of course we still carry on that tradition to remember her, her love God and for us. Even after we go to church she would always have her own long loku before everyone eats dinner, I still remember the song that she sang at the end.

My family and I would always have a big feast where everyone has to bring over two things to the table. Two thing’s I always see on the table is a big bowl of corn beef and a plate of taro’s. The only thing I don’t see much of is veggie salad that my uncle is suppose to make. My favourite thing to eat the most would probably be the muscles that my auntie make every year, I love it because she add this special sauce that makes it nice and creamy.

The true meaning of Good Friday and Easter Sunday is to remember Jesus Christ and how he protected us from our sins

I really enjoy Easter because I get to spend time with my family and friends, I can’t wait till Sunday to eat some delicious muscle.

Factor or Opinion

Today before Writing Mrs Telea's  Literacy class have been learning about Fact's and Opinion's, two things I've learnt today is that a fact is something that is always true and an opinion is what you think or feel, but it can not be proven.

Looking Back Looking Forward

What I found exciting and fun last year was how the year 7’s from 2015 got to go on amazing trips like Fiafia, Rainbows End, Parakai and much more, hopefully we get to go on more trips this year. In the year of 2015 I gained a lot of knowledge from all my teachers, in maths reading and writing.

What I valued most about last year was getting to know some of the year 8’s more better. This year (2016) I am looking forward to all the new sports and meeting a lot of new teachers. My goals for 2016 are to join a lot of sports and to get all my school work done.

Camp Bentzon Camp Writing

Collin Camp Movie from Team 4 Pes on Vimeo.

On Tuesday morning the year 6’s from Pt England School went on a very exciting trip to Camp Bentzon. All year 6 students arrive at school before 7:00 am so they could leave early for SandSpit, that’s where we waited for the ferry. Before we left to Sandspit we loaded our luggage on to the bus.

The bus drive was really long, we drove all the way past Harbour bridge then into the woods and over many hills, we finally reached Sandspit and all the leaders from each team had to load the luggage onto the ferry. We first went to the park and played for quite a long time then we hurried back so we wouldn't be late.

As we left the Dock we had a marvelous view of the blue sea as we waved goodbye to the man who gave us the food for camp. Everyone was trying to look for dolphins but there was nothing in sight. We were almost there so the teachers told all the boys to stand to do the haka, so we stood up and sang our haka.

After we finished our haka all students left the boat and stood in one straight line so we could all have a turn on taking the gear, food and bags. Then we had a little time to look around the place and then we had to go back to load our bags into our cabins it was really tiring, I had to refill my bottle at least 3 times.

My cabin was great I sleeping in my cabin was Taimana, Promise, Cyrus and Sateki. We ate lollies and lots of chocolate, well at least I did I snuck some chocolate out of my mum's bag and put it under my pillow. After one day our cabin was already messy but we cleaned it from top to bottom it was spotless and we also came first in cleanest cabins.

Out of all the activities, my favourite was sailing. Peter one of the people who lived their was our instructor. He told us what the most important job was and it was holding the tiller not holding the sale it was really fun because me and Oloti Pao one of my group members were just cruising around back and forth.

My Second favourite game was orientering, it’s my second because my team and I worked together in finding all the letters it was tricky but we manage to get them before everyone it was the camp record, well not really but it was stall fun. I’d say that the laziest person in my team was Damian but the fittest was Oloti I wasn’t surprised he was the only person that could keep up with me in the fitness runs early in the morning.

Most of the watersports were really amusing one of my favourite was diving of the pontoon, out of all the year 6’s I was the 2cd person to get onto the pontoon. Jordan was the first and Stevenson was the third they are both from team Bentzon. I took a video of me with the GoPro it was so cool, Mrs Garden screamed when I jumped.

Camp was really cool and I can’t wait until the year 5’s go they're, you guys are going to have so much fun Especially if you see a wallaby.

Being Fit

WALT: record what is said with appropriate punctuation

Did you know your body is an amazing machine? It just needs to be used every day to keep it working well.

Exercise keeps your body strong and fit. Fitness means having the energy to work and play and do all the things you want to do easily. Your body can not store fitness, so you need to exercise regularly to stay fit.

Exercise  makes you feel and look better, it keeps your body a healthy weight. It also helps you relax and sleep better, hen you exercise your body produces chemicals called endorphins which go to your brain and make you feel good.

Exercise for strength makes your muscles stronger so you can work different parts of your body without feeling weak. Exercise for stamina makes your heart and lungs stronger and helps blood flow easily throughout your body, stamina is the ability to exercise longer without getting tired or out of breath.

So you need to move it!

WALT: Add more detail to the Beginning, Middle and end of our Sentences

This Movie has taught me to use more detail to hook my audience in. It has also taught me how to add detail to the Beginning, Middle and end of our sentences.
