On a scorching hot day my class and I went to the GI swimming pools to learn about safety and survival skills. When we had arrived I quickly got change and slowly ran to the showers I would have ran but the floor was too slippery. SHRE SHRE thats the sound the shower made, after I had rense my self clean I went back to the pool I was swimming in and sat down on the cold, wet grey chairs that were there.

Soon later there were three female Instructors came and told us to get inside the pool carefully

Kayaking at Camp !!!

Last week on Wednesday we started the year 5 and 6 camp. There were many of
activities but my favourite was kayaking. It was really fun and everyone in my team enjoyed it, my team was called caretakers and I was one of the leaders.

When it was time for our final activity we had to walk down to the reserve to get ready for kayaking. As soon as we arrived we learnt how to be safe in the kayak, we also learnt how to get in and out of it to. It was funny because Isara and Rocky had to show us how to get in but instead of getting i  n they fell in.

Then Mr Burt told us to get a life jacket on and get into the water with the kayak. It was hard putting on the life jacket but Isara helped me. When I got in I paddle to the left because there were boundaries on the right.

It was awesome everyone enjoyed it, some of us fell out and into the water. We had races and splashed each other we even got to swim after we had finished. When we were racing I won I was racing Henry I enjoy every single bit of it.Then I was time to go back to the Marque to get ready for dinner I was really tired after that.

Year 5/6 Camp

Yesterday was the first day of camp and my team and I went to cook some scrumptious Corn fritters with Miss Tito. It was really fun cooking with her, first she divided us into three groups of four then we started to make the batch. She had prepared everything.

Soon later we had finish the batch and then we  started cooking. It was really funny cooking because every time you'd flip them you would have to jump back because the oil would burn you. after that we had eaten them and the we started to roast some marshmallows and make smores.

Writing about Antarctica

In Antarctica there are a lots of icebergs icy deserts animals and many more interesting things you might want to know about Antarctica. Like it has the largest desert in the world. Also if you were to swim all the way down Antarctic water it would get warmer and warmer. Also There are extremely strong big and small animals that live in Antarctica like penguins seals and orca which are killer whales.all of the penguins have feathers and peaks just like birds but they can't fly. killer whales like to eat almost anything they see but what they really love to eat is squid penguins and dolphins.

The Bird Nest

The Bird Nest Tom woke up and turned on the lamp. He pushed the sheet and Woollen rugs off himself and staggered to the Window, which was partly open. He looked up to see a full moon and there, in the moonlight, sitting on a nest in a massive gum tree, was a mother bird and her noisy baby chicks. The nest, made from twigs, straw, wool and dead grass, was swaying wildly from side to side. As it did so, the mother bird tried to calm her frightened young ones by chirping softly to them.

Life cycle of the Monarch Butterfly

Gently the butterfly lays its egg on a swan plant. After that it leaves and the egg is hanging underneath the leaf. The butterfly lays it egg under the leaf because there are a lot of dangerous insects and animals that might squash or eat it.

After a day or two it’s ready to hatch, but when it does it comes out and eats the shell. I wonder what the shell taste like? It looks like it’s really scrumshus to the caterpillar. When it finishes eating the shell it moves on to eat leaves.

While it eats leaves it sheds many of time and changes colours. As it eats it gets bigger and bigger everyday. When it sheds it looks funny but it’s part of the life cycle, it eats about 15 leaves and then it is ready to find a good branch and dangle from it.

Then there it hangs but first it has to make something sticky to make it stick. After a while it turns into a chrysalis and stays in there for 2 weeks. Then when it comes out there is a beautiful monarch butterfly.

My Statistical Investigation?

I was Investigating the highest
and lowest Temperature for February 20th all the way to Feb the 24th .

I found out that the highest Temperature was 26 and the lowest was 12.

There are three different charts but with all the same drawing the easiest chart to read is the one in the middle.

I conclude that every time it is the 23 it will be sunny.

Use your Wits.

Using your Wits means to always do the right thing. It also means you have to follow 4 steps which are W walk away, I ignore it, T talk about it and S seek help. First we are going to talk about W walk away.

If people are Bullying you, you should walk away. If you don’t walk away then there are many bad things that can happen to you. Even though they are pushing or teasing you just use your Wits. The next step is to ignore it, if people are making fun of you, walk away and ignore it.

Another example is if people are teasing you, calling you names and other things you just have to ignore it. If you talk about it, it will make you happy and it will also solve many of your problems. There are lots of thing you could talk about, like if you pet died or someone is teasing you just talk about it.

To Seek help you have to find a teacher or an adult and tell them what's wrong. It also means that the person who was bullying you would learn a lesson. Using your WITS can help you by not being bullied. If you use your WITS you'll be happy and you will be able to enjoy the rest of your day knowing what you can do if that ever happens again.

Ambassador Speech

Today some of my friends and I had to say a speech for special visitors. I wasn't really shy because I had practiced many times and I only made two mistakes. There were only 10 visitors who came, that's why I wasn't shy. The people who said the speech with me were all ambassadors including me. We had a lot of help from two really really special people named Mr and Mrs Burt. Mr Burt is the principal of Pt England school, and Mrs Burt is in charge of the ambassadors. They are both like coaches.

But someone I noticed sitting there was Phil Giller from Samsung. I spoke to him and he was telling me that he played league for Hibiscus Coast . I replied back “I’m in the Mount Wellington rugby league team and I've beaten Hibiscus coast".
